CEHLAF extends a special invitation to all researchers, professionals, multi-national organizations, academic institutions and the learned public working in the multidisciplinary field of migration, global integration, and gender diversity to its first annual hybrid conference to be held from 26th to 28th of August, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The theme for the 2025 CEHLAF conference is “Borders: Exploring the Intersection of Migration, Global Integration, and Gender Diversity.”

With this theme of the conference in mind, CEHLAF is offering three different formats for engaging in discussions: i) oral presentations, ii) roundtable discussions, and iii) poster presentations. Proposals are encouraged from students, faculty, administrators, or community members committed to the systematic scholarly inquiry into aspects of migration, global integration, and gender diversity internationally. We encourage proposals that demonstrate collaborations and engagement with policy makers, students, with other instructors and among multiple disciplines and contexts.

CEHLAF CONFERENCE, 2025 requires abstract submissions of not more than 250 words from individuals or groups (panel, roundtable, and workshop proposals), be sent as attached Microsoft Word files to CEHLAF CONFERENCE email at cehlaf@cehlaf.ca on or before December 20th , 2024. The author's name, institutional affiliation, email address, and contact phone number should be provided under the proposed paper title before the abstract. Successful abstracts will be announced by January 27, 2025.  Completed papers are required no later than May 4th, 2025, for blind peer review. All well-researched papers will be published with Palgrave MacMillan at no cost to authors.

CEHLAF is dedicated to fostering fairness and inclusivity, encouraging applications from women, visible minorities, scholars based in Africa, Asia, Latin America, individuals with disabilities, refugees and those of any sexual orientation or gender identity, regardless of rank or career stage. The intellectual, social, and cultural vibrancy of CEHLAF is enhanced by the active involvement of individuals from diverse backgrounds. We extend a special invitation to students, particularly those pursuing graduate studies, to submit abstracts for consideration.

Conference Registration Fees

Conference registration includes conference materials, plenary and concurrent sessions, opening night reception and keynote banquet, and both breakfast and lunch for two days.

The conference hotel room rate is guaranteed until April, 26th 2025.

NOTE: For payments received from outside Canada by bank transfer, the refund will be made by bank transfer and all bank charges will be for the registrants account.

The policy as stated on this page is valid from January 2024.

President and co-founder of the Center for Humanitarian Service and Legal Aid Foundation (CEHLAF). He studied at the University of Ottawa's Common Law section, University of Moncton Faculty of Law and Université de Montréal civil law section. Conference Cancellation/ Refund Policy

If a registrant is unable to attend an event for any reason they may substitute, by arrangement with the Secretary, someone else to attend in their place. If a registrant is unable to attend and providing the conference registrar is informed in writing by the final date for payment that is displayed on the website for the event in question, the fee paid would be left with CEHLAF as payment towards a place at the same event the following year or another CEHLAF event that takes place in the 12 months following the originally booked event. In the case of a contributing author, the paper will not be published in the Conference Proceedings if the fee is held over for another conference but may be eligible for publication in the later event if appropriate.

Where the registrant is unable to attend, and is not in a position to transfer his/her place to another person or to another event, then the following refund arrangements apply:

Authors: Registrations cancelled, as a result of a paper not being accepted are eligible for an 80% refund of the registration fees paid. The remaining 20% of the fee contributes to administration costs incurred.

  • Registrations cancelled more than 60 days before the event are eligible for a 60% refund of the registration fees paid.
  • Registrations cancelled less than 60 days, but more than 30 days before the event are eligible for a 40% refund of the registration fees paid.
  • Registrations cancelled less than 30 days before the event are no longer eligible for a refund.
  • Failure to register after receiving a paper acceptance following the review process will incur a $50 review fee.
  • No refunds are available for cancellations made by non-authors of the event.

Visa Application

If registrants will need visas to attend the conference, they should apply to CEHLAF on time to make available letters for visa application. CEHLAF does not process or guarantee visas for registrants.
